Monthly Missions

February 2024

Hearts for Aubree/American Heart Association

Heart health is one of the most critical needs we have as a society--from birth defects to heart attacks, there is so much more than needs to be learned.  This month we raise money to help the AHA do that research and provide help for those who are going through heart health issues.  This one is near to our heart as many of us have been touched by Aubree's story-an amazing little girl who earned her wings after a battle with heart birth defect.

Meals on Wheels Cards

We have many participants in the Meals on Wheels program in South Lake County.  These community members often feel disconnected from others.  By having the student make cards to be distributed with their meals, it creates a meaningful connection with them to let them know that they are not forgotten members of our community.

December 2023

Neighborhood Center of South Lake

While Florida is know for is warmth and sunshine, the winter months can be quite challenging for those without a home or for families who do not have warmer clothing to dress in when the temperatures do drop.  Socks are one of the best ways to help fight off the cold.  Please send in new socks of all sizes to donate to those who need a little extra warmth this winter.  To raise awareness we ask students to wear their favorite Christmas socks to school!

November 2023

Neighborhood Center of South Lake

In the ever growing economic instabilities many have come to struggle with food security amongst the other concerns that come with financial issues.  Our community has seen a drastic increase in those who need extra assistance to cover basic needs such as food.  WCA families are invited to bring in shelf stable food items throughout November up to the Thanksgiving Feasts to help those in our community.  Let's provide our neighbors with one less worry during the holiday season.

October 2023

Greater Clermont Cancer Foundation

On October 23/24 students may wear a shirt that reflects the color of a cancer that has impacted their family.  Traditionally October is pink for Breast Cancer, but we want to include awareness for all cancers including childhood cancer (gold) and others that are personal to each of us.  Families are encouraged to donate what they can with all funds collected going to the Greater Clermont Cancer Foundation who helps those currently battling cancer.

September 2023

International Dot Day

Students will get to show off their creative dots while raising funds to help host a special night for those with special needs.  During this fun dress up day students will be asked to collect donations and bring them in on Dot Day (September 14/15).  All proceeds go to Tim Tebow Foundation (A Night to Shine).
